VICTORIAN ERA SILVER PLATED SMALL CASKET PLATE

A SMALLER BUT QUITE HEAVY CASKET PLATE. VERY UNIQUE AND MINT CONDITION FIND FROM THE LATE 1800's TO 1900. A beautiful example of Victorian era hardware. Made of solid brass with silver plated finish. This piece has not been polished but has tarnished considerably since being unwrapped. This item and much much more were discovered during the renovation of a rural funeral home. Just scads of antique hardware was discovered in the carriage shed most still in their original boxes which has been a great help for me. I believe this is a Meriden Brass Company piece but I am not quite certain. Some of the pieces found did have dates on the cartons of 1860-1880. Others were a little 'newer' - 1915. This item will polish up a deep silver color and if you spray lacquer a seal it will stay the cleaned up surface.
